Web design in Exeter that brings in enquiries

A small agency for Exeter businesses

The person who quotes your Exeter website is the person who designs it, builds it and picks up the phone when you ring. That's the whole pitch.

Exeter has plenty of web agencies, and most of them are good at what they do. The difference with us is size. We're two people and a dog, which means the person who quotes your website is the person who designs it, builds it and answers the phone eighteen months later when you want a change. There's no studio to pay for and no account manager between you and the work.

We meet Exeter clients at their own premises, in a cafe in town, or on Zoom; our base is 13 miles up the M5, so a site visit is no trouble. The site gets built in Duda, hosted and backed up on a monthly plan, and set up from day one to rank for the searches that matter to a business in Exeter: your service, your area, and the questions people ask before they ring.

If you're in Heavitree, St Thomas, Pinhoe, Topsham, Marsh Barton or anywhere else in the EX1 to EX6 postcodes, we're the small agency for you.

Websites for Exeter businesses

Four ways we help. Every site we build is hosted and looked after on a monthly plan, and we take on sites built by others too.

Small business websites

A professional site that explains what you do, where in Exeter you work and how to get hold of you. Built to be found, and built to turn a visit into a call.

Website redesign

Your current site looks dated or doesn't bring in work. We rebuild it properly, and we keep the rankings you've already earned by mapping every old page to its new home.

E-commerce websites

Online shops that are easy to run day to day, with payments, stock and delivery sorted properly, so you spend your time on orders rather than admin.

Website care plans

For sites we didn't build, or that run on WordPress. Updates, security, backups and hosting each month, with time for changes and someone in Devon to ring.

What every website comes with

No bolt-ons for the basics. These are the things a website needs to actually work for a business, so they're in every build.

  • Designed around your brand, not a template
  • Designed for phones first, then desktop
  • Pages written around what customers search for
  • Local SEO set up, with Exeter and your services named
  • Structured data so Google and AI tools understand you
  • Fast, secure hosting with SSL
  • Enquiry forms that land straight in your inbox
  • Google Business Profile and analytics connected
  • A walkthrough so you can make small edits yourself
  • Hosting, backups and support time on one monthly plan
  • Designed and built by Peter personally, nothing outsourced

Buildrite Solutions, Exeter

Structural specialists based in Exeter. Peter designed and built their new website, launched it, and it now runs on a monthly hosting and support plan like every site we build.

SEO in Exeter

A city is a harder place to rank than a market town. More competitors, more postcodes, and a Google map pack that changes depending on which side of the river the searcher is standing.

Every website we build is set up for local search from the start. If you want it worked on every month, the SEO plan covers keyword and key page monitoring, on-page upkeep, Google Business Profile management, citations, backlink monitoring, optimisation for Google and AI answers, and one article a month, with an in-depth report so you can see what's moved. From £199 a month plus VAT, no setup fee, no contract.

For an Exeter business the work usually starts with the Google Business Profile, because that's what shows up when someone in Heavitree searches for a plumber, an accountant or a cafe. Then the service pages, written for the searches people actually type, with Exeter and the surrounding villages named where it's honest to name them.

Beyond the website

Most Exeter businesses come to us for a website first. Some need more than that, now or later.

Web apps

Booking systems, customer portals, job management and field service apps. Bespoke software that runs in a browser and replaces the spreadsheet, the whiteboard or the pile of paper on the passenger seat.

Mobile apps

Apps for your customers: takeaway ordering, salon booking, loyalty and club apps, on the App Store and Google Play, run from the same place as your website.

Content for search and AI

A weekly article, a week of social posts and Google Business Profile updates, written in your voice and published for you, with an AI visibility audit built in.

How it works

From first call to launch, and then the years after.

Step 1

Discovery call

Free, 30 minutes, at your premises in Exeter or on Zoom. What you do, who you want to reach, what the current site does and doesn't do.

Step 2

Fixed quote

A one-off figure for the build and the monthly plan it'll run on. No surprises later, and honest advice if a cheaper option would do the job.

Step 3

Design and build

Peter builds it, you see it as it takes shape, and the SEO is baked in rather than bolted on. Content written around what Exeter customers search for.

Step 4

Launch and look after

Live, connected to Google, and on a monthly plan for hosting, backups and support. Eighteen months on, you're still talking to the person who built it.

Peter at MidDevon Digital has been absolutely amazing. His patience with my lack of technology is sound and I love the work he has done on our website. I would have no hesitation recommending him.

Pam Rawlings, P2HR, Bristol

Peter created a website for my business and I could not be happier with the outcome. Nothing was ever a problem when I wanted to change things and it was done in a timely manner.

Exeter web design questions

Can't see yours?
Give us a ring on 01392 346700.

Do you have an office in Exeter?

No. We work from a home office in Cullompton, 13 miles up the M5, and meet Exeter clients at their premises, somewhere convenient in the city, or on Zoom. Nobody has ever needed to visit us, and you don't pay for a city-centre studio you'll never sit in.

Do you already work with Exeter businesses?

Yes. Buildrite Solutions, structural specialists in Exeter, are one of ours, and most of our clients are within an hour of junction 28 of the M5, which puts Exeter squarely in the middle of where we work.

How much does a website cost?

Every site is quoted as a one-off build, then runs on a monthly plan that covers hosting, backups and a set amount of support time. The quote depends on the pages, features and content involved, so we give you a fixed figure after a short conversation rather than a number off a price list. The discovery call is free and there's no obligation.

Can you get my business found for "Exeter" searches?

That's most of the point. Every site we build has local SEO set up from the start: pages written around the services people search for, your areas named properly, structured data so Google and AI tools understand where you work, and your Google Business Profile connected. If you want it worked on every month, the SEO plan starts from £199 a month plus VAT with no contract.

Can you take over a website someone else built?

Yes. Website care plans are for exactly that: sites we didn't build, including WordPress sites, where you need updates, security, backups, hosting and someone to ring. If the site needs rebuilding rather than maintaining, we'll tell you that too, and keep the rankings you've already earned by mapping every old page to its new home.

Who actually builds the site?

Peter Teal, personally. Design, build, SEO and the conversations in between. No subcontractors, no overseas team, no account manager passing messages along. The person you meet at the start is the person who builds it and the person who supports it afterwards.

Do you only do websites?

No. Websites are what most Exeter businesses come to us for first, but we also build web apps (booking systems, customer portals, job management, field service apps), consumer mobile apps, and run SEO on a monthly plan. Quite often a website leads to a web app a year or two later, once the paperwork gets painful.
