MidDevon Digital builds appointment booking apps for salons, barbers, clinics, therapists, trainers and other businesses that work by appointment, in Devon and across the UK. Customers see your availability, book, pay a deposit and get reminded, all from your own app on the App Store and Google Play. Fewer no-shows, fewer phone calls, no marketplace fee. Fixed quote, and the app is yours.
A booking app your customers keep on their phone, and a diary that fills itself

What a booking app does, and why your own beats a directory
An appointment booking app lets customers see your real availability, pick a time, choose a staff member or service, pay a deposit if you ask for one, and get reminded before they come. On your own app, the customer and the booking are yours: no directory listing you next to competitors, no fee per booking, and a notification that brings them back when they're due.
The booking directories work, and they charge for it: a fee per booking, a subscription, or both, plus your name next to three competitors offering a discount. Your own app does the booking without the marketplace. Customers who already know you download it once, and from then on rebooking is one tap and a reminder.
Your availability, your rules
Staff, rooms, services, durations, buffers, how far ahead people can book and how late they can cancel. The app only offers what actually works, so double bookings can't happen.
Deposits that cut no-shows
Take a deposit or full payment at booking, on the services where no-shows cost you. Automatic reminders by notification and SMS do the rest.
Rebooking in one tap
Customers see their history and rebook the same service with the same person. A "you're due" notification at the right interval fills the quiet weeks, and a "cancellation this afternoon" notification fills the gap the same day. Both free, sent by you in a minute, to everyone who has the app.
Connected to your diary
Google or Outlook calendar kept in step, so staff see app bookings next to everything else. The app is standalone, so you don't need a salon system behind it; the diary lives in the app and your calendar.
We build booking and appointment apps for businesses in Cullompton, Tiverton, Exeter, Taunton and across Devon and Somerset, and for clients across the UK over Zoom. Web design and apps in Exeter →
Who a booking app is for
Anyone whose customers come back on a cycle and whose diary is the business.
Salons and barbers
Cut and colour booked with the right stylist, deposit taken, reminder sent, rebooked before they leave the chair.
Clinics, therapists and practitioners
Physio, massage, beauty, dental hygiene, counselling. Appointment types with their own durations, intake forms completed in the app before the visit.
Personal trainers, studios and classes
Sessions and classes with capacity, memberships and packs of sessions, waiting lists when a class is full.
Trades and services by appointment
Mobile mechanics, dog groomers, cleaners, tutors. Customers book a slot in your area, you see the day's run on your phone.
What a booking app can include
Built around how you take bookings, so this is a starting point rather than a feature sheet.
Live availability
Checked against staff, rooms, services and your rules in real time.
Deposits and payments
Full payment, deposit or pay-on-the-day per service, through Stripe or your existing provider, with Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Reminders, confirmations and offers
Appointment reminders by push notification and SMS at the times you choose. And the same channel for marketing: a last-minute gap to fill, a new treatment, a quiet-week offer, straight to every customer who has the app, free.
Customer accounts and history
Past appointments, preferred staff, notes and intake forms, with one-tap rebooking.
Staff and admin views
Each staff member sees their own day; the owner sees everything, moves bookings and runs reports.
Packages, memberships and gift cards
Blocks of sessions, monthly memberships, class passes and gift vouchers sold and redeemed in the app.

Demo app
Try the demo booking app on your own phone
We've built a working salon booking app so you can see how availability, deposits, reminders and rebooking work before you commit to anything. Book a call and we'll put it on your phone, make a test booking together, and talk through what yours would need that's different.
How a booking app gets built
Four stages, a fixed price, and a working version on your own phone well before launch.
Step 1
Discovery
A conversation about your services, your staff, how bookings come in today and where the no-shows and the phone calls are costing you. Your spec is what the app is designed around. At your place or on Zoom.
Step 2
Design and fixed quote
Every screen designed in your branding before any code is written, with a written scope, a fixed price and a realistic timeline.
Step 3
Build and test
iOS and Android built together, with a test version on your phone as each part is ready. You make real test bookings and watch them land in the diary before any customer does.
Step 4
Launch and look after
We handle the App Store and Google Play submissions and go live. Then hosting, the content management system, updates, re-submissions and support run on a monthly plan, with new features quoted as you want them.
What clients say
We have always found Peter to be responsive to our requirements, and this has delivered an efficient solution to the daily functions of our growing business. We believe that the process we undertook with Peter has resulted in a far superior solution to purchasing an off-the-shelf system.
Phillip Voss, Elite Cleaning, Devon
Peter at MidDevon Digital has been absolutely amazing. His patience with my lack of technology is sound and I love the work he has done on our website. I would have no hesitation recommending him.

How much does a booking app cost?
It depends on how many services and staff there are, whether you need deposits and reminders, and whether you want loyalty or memberships alongside the bookings. You get a fixed quote in writing after a free discovery call. Against a directory charging per booking or per month, the app is a one-off cost plus a flat monthly plan that doesn't rise with bookings.
Is there a fee per booking?
No. There is no per-booking fee from us. If you take deposits or payments through the app, your payment provider's processing fee applies as it would anywhere. The build is a fixed price and the monthly plan covers hosting and support.
Can customers pay a deposit when they book?
Yes. Full payment, a deposit or pay-on-the-day can be set per service, taken through Stripe or your existing card provider, with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Deposits are the single biggest thing that cuts no-shows.
Does it send reminders?
Yes. Push notifications and SMS at the times you choose, in your own wording, plus a calendar invite. Customers can confirm, change or cancel within the rules you set.
Will it work with my Google or Outlook calendar?
Yes. Bookings are pushed to Google or Outlook and busy time read back, so staff diaries stay in step without double entry. The app is standalone, so it doesn't need a salon or clinic system behind it.
Can I take bookings for more than one member of staff?
Yes. Each staff member has their own services, hours and availability, customers can choose who they see, and each person sees their own day in the app. Adding a new service, a new staff member or a new price is a content change you make yourself and it appears straight away; only changes to how the app is built need a new version published, which we handle under the plan.
Will customers download a booking app?
Regulars will, because rebooking in one tap beats ringing. A sign at the desk, a QR code on the card and an app-only offer get most of them on in the first few weeks, and the app can run alongside your existing booking link while it builds up.
