MidDevon Digital builds community and club apps for sports clubs, schools and PTAs, churches, village halls, societies and community groups in Devon and across the UK. News, events, fixtures and notices in one place, a members' area, push notifications that people actually read, and payments for subs, tickets and fundraising, all in your own app on the App Store and Google Play. Fixed quote, and the app belongs to the group.
A community app that replaces the group chat nobody can find anything in

What a community app does, and why a group chat isn't enough
A community app is a single place on members' phones for everything a club, school or group needs to share: news, events, fixtures, notices, documents, a members' directory and a way to pay for subs and tickets. The committee updates it from a content management system, and a push notification reaches everyone without anyone scrolling back through a chat.
Most groups run on a WhatsApp group, a Facebook page, a newsletter and a website nobody updates. The information is there somewhere, and nobody can find it. The fixture change gets missed, the subs reminder gets lost, and the committee spends its evenings answering the same question. An app puts it all in one place, and the notification means it gets read.
News and notices that get seen
Post once from the content management system; everyone gets a notification. Pinned notices for the things that matter. No algorithm deciding who sees it.
Events, fixtures and a calendar
Match days, meetings, services, rehearsals, the summer fete. Members see what's on, add it to their phone's calendar, and get reminded.
A members' area
Documents, minutes, policies, a directory, team sheets, kit orders. Behind a login, so it's for members and not the whole internet.
Subs, tickets and fundraising
Pay membership subs, buy event tickets, enter the draw or donate, from the app, with the money going to the group's account and the treasurer seeing who's paid.

Who a
community app is for
Any group with members to keep informed and a committee that would rather not chase them.
Sports clubs
Fixtures, results, team selection, training times, pitch closures and match-day notifications. Subs and kit paid in the app.
Schools and PTAs
Term dates, letters home, events, clubs, reminders about non-uniform day. Tickets for the fair and the quiz sold in the app.
Churches and faith groups
Services, rotas, notices, prayer requests, giving. A notification on Saturday for Sunday's service.
Village halls, societies and community groups
What's on, hall bookings, membership, the newsletter, the AGM. A village app that the parish council, the hall and the clubs can share.
What a community app can include
Built around how your group runs, so this is a starting point rather than a feature sheet.
News and push notifications
Posts with photos, pinned notices, and a notification to everyone or to a team, a year group or a section.
Events and calendar
What's on, with reminders, RSVPs and one-tap add to the phone's calendar.
Members' area and directory
Documents, minutes, policies, contacts and team sheets behind a login, with roles for committee, coaches or leaders.
Payments and fundraising
Subs, tickets, kit, donations and draws, through Stripe or your existing provider, with the treasurer seeing who has paid.
Forms and sign-ups
Join the club, register a child, volunteer for the rota, enter the competition. Forms that land in the right inbox.
Multiple sections or groups
Teams, year groups, congregations or clubs within one app, each with their own news and notifications.

- Push notifications you send yourself from a simple admin screen
- No per-member fee, however big the group gets
- A content management system you log into to make changes yourself, live in the app straight away
- Published under your name or ours
- Hosting, the content management system, updates, store re-submissions and support on a monthly plan after launch
Demo app
Try the demo club app on your own phone
We've built a working club app so you can see how the news feed, the fixtures, the members' area and the notifications work before you commit to anything. Book a call and we'll put it on your phone, post a test notice together, and talk through what your group would need that's different.
How a community app gets built
Four stages, a fixed price, and a working version on your own phone well before launch.
Step 1
Discovery
A conversation with the committee about what members need to know, how you reach them today, and what the treasurer and the secretary need to see. Your spec is what the app is designed around. At your place or on Zoom.
Step 2
Design and fixed quote
Every screen designed in your branding before any code is written, with a written scope, a fixed price and a realistic timeline.
Step 3
Build and test
iOS and Android built together, with a test version on your phone as each part is ready. A few committee members and volunteers try it on their own phones before it goes out to everyone.
Step 4
Launch and look after
We handle the App Store and Google Play submissions and go live. Then hosting, the content management system, updates, re-submissions and support run on a monthly plan, with new features quoted as you want them.
What clients say
We have always found Peter to be responsive to our requirements, and this has delivered an efficient solution to the daily functions of our growing business. We believe that the process we undertook with Peter has resulted in a far superior solution to purchasing an off-the-shelf system.
Phillip Voss, Elite Cleaning, Devon
Peter at MidDevon Digital has been absolutely amazing. His patience with my lack of technology is sound and I love the work he has done on our website. I would have no hesitation recommending him.

How much does a community app cost?
It depends on how many sections or teams the app has, whether it takes payments, and how much content you want in it from day one. You get a fixed quote in writing after a free discovery call, and we've scoped apps for groups working from a grant, a sponsor or a fundraising target. Against the platforms that charge per member or per month, the app is a one-off cost plus a flat monthly plan that doesn't rise as the group grows.
Who updates the app once it's live?
The committee, from a content management system on a phone or laptop. Posting a notice, adding a fixture or sending a notification takes a couple of minutes and no technical knowledge, and it appears in the app straight away. Several people can have access, with different roles, so it doesn't all sit with one person. Only changes to the app itself, like adding a new section for a new team, need a new version published to the stores, which we handle under the monthly plan.
Can it take subs and ticket payments?
Yes. Membership subs, event tickets, kit, donations and draws can all be paid in the app through Stripe or your existing provider, with the money going to the group's account and the treasurer seeing who has paid. There is no platform fee from us; your payment provider's processing fee applies as it would anywhere.
Can different teams or sections have their own area?
Yes. Teams, year groups, congregations or clubs within a larger group can each have their own news, events and notifications, with members choosing which they follow. A village app can hold the hall, the parish council and the clubs in one place.
Is members' information safe?
The members' area sits behind a login, with roles so committee members see only what they should. Data is held securely for your group, backed up, and never shared or sold. We'll help you word the privacy notice for members.
Will members download it?
Yes, if it's where the fixtures, the dates and the notices live. Once the committee stops posting them anywhere else, the app becomes the place to look. A notification for the first few posts and a mention at training or the AGM get most members on within a month.
Can it replace our website or Facebook page?
It can replace the Facebook group for members, because everything is in one place and nothing is hidden by an algorithm. A public website is still worth having for people who aren't members yet, and we can build that too, with the app and the site sharing news so you post once.
Want your members to actually see the notices?
Tell us about your group and how you reach members today, and we'll show you what your own app would look like, with a clear quote.
