DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
A lot of small business websites are quietly losing customers
If your site is not showing up on Google, looks tired on a mobile phone, or never generates enquiries, you are probably sending customers straight to your competitors without realising it.
"We are nowhere on Google"
Your potential customers are searching for services like yours right now. If they cannot find you on the first page, most will call someone else without a second thought.
"The site looks bad on a phone"
More than half of all web searches happen on a mobile. If your site is fiddly to use or slow to load, most people will simply leave within a few seconds.
"We get visitors but no enquiries"
Traffic is only useful if it converts. We build sites with a clear purpose: to turn visitors into phone calls, contact form submissions and paying customers.

NEW: AI SEARCH IS CHANGING EVERYTHING
Is your business showing up when people ask AI for recommendations?
More and more people are skipping Google entirely. They ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google AI Overviews for a recommendation and act on whatever name comes back. If your business is not in those answers, you are invisible to a growing slice of your customers.
No obligation. Just need your business name and website.

ABOUT PETER
The person behind every project
FOUNDER
Peter built his first website in 1996 and has been fascinated by it ever since. For years it stayed a hobby alongside a long career in retail, but in 2025 he decided to make it the main event and founded MidDevon Digital.
That retail background shapes how he thinks about websites. He knows what customers need to see before they will pick up the phone, and he builds with that in mind rather than just ticking technical boxes.
Every project is handled by Peter personally, from the first conversation right through to launch and beyond. Based in Cullompton, working with businesses across Devon and the South West.
Peter Teal
"A lot of agencies take on your project and then hand it to a junior or a subcontractor. With MidDevon Digital, Peter handles every client project from first conversation to launch and beyond. No middlemen, no mixed messages."

COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a website cost for a small business in Devon?
Website costs in Devon typically range from a few hundred pounds for a basic template build to several thousand for a fully bespoke site. At MidDevon Digital our websites start from £495, and that includes the design, the build, local SEO foundations, hosting and ongoing support. We give every client a clear itemised quote before any work starts, so you know exactly what you are paying for and what is included. There are no setup fees hidden in the small print and no annual renewal shocks.
How long does it take to build a small business website?
Most of our websites go live within four to five weeks of the first briefing. That covers the discovery conversation, the design phase, your revisions and the final checks before launch. If you already have your content, photography and a clear idea of what you need, it can be quicker. If you need help writing the content or sorting out photography, it may take a little longer, and we will tell you that upfront rather than promising a date we cannot meet.
Do I need SEO as well as a website?
A well-built website gives you the foundation, but SEO is what helps people actually find it. Every site we build includes local SEO basics as standard, which means proper page titles, descriptions, schema markup and Google Business Profile alignment. That gets you off to the best possible start. Ongoing SEO work builds on that over time, improving your rankings as competition changes and search behaviour shifts. Most businesses find the combination works better than either on its own.
What is the difference between using MidDevon Digital and building a website myself on Wix or Squarespace?
DIY builders make it easy to get a website looking reasonable, and for some businesses that is enough. The problem is that looking good and being found are two very different things. Most people building their own site have no reason to know how SEO works, how a site should be structured for search, what schema markup does, or why page titles and headings matter. The result is often a site that looks perfectly smart but sits there quietly doing nothing, because nobody can find it.
That is the gap we fill. We handle the structure, the local SEO foundations, the schema markup and the technical setup that most DIY sites miss entirely, and we stay involved afterwards with hosting, updates and support. If you have the time and the interest to learn all of that yourself, genuinely, go for it. If you would rather spend that time running your business, that is where we come in.
Can you help if my current website was built by someone else?
Yes, and we do this regularly. We maintain, update and improve sites built on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Duda and most other platforms. If your original developer has moved on, gone quiet, or you simply want someone reliable keeping an eye on things, get in touch. We can take over maintenance, improve your SEO, or rebuild the site entirely depending on what makes sense for your situation.
How do I get my business to show up on Google for local searches?
Local visibility comes down to three things working together. Your Google Business Profile needs to be complete, accurate and active. Your website needs proper local signals, which means location-specific content, schema markup and consistent business details. And your business information needs to be consistent everywhere it appears online. We handle all three as part of our SEO work. It is worth knowing that this takes time. Google needs to crawl and assess your site before rankings improve, so this is a matter of weeks and months rather than days.
Will AI tools like ChatGPT recommend my business?
They might, and it matters more every year. AI tools pull recommendations from businesses with clear structured content, consistent information across the web, and credible online presence. If your business has thin content, inconsistent details or no schema markup, you are unlikely to appear in those answers. We build with AI visibility in mind and include GEO and AEO work in our SEO packages as standard. We also offer a free AI Visibility Audit that shows you exactly where your business currently stands.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. We do not tie clients into long contracts and we never have. Our hosting and support plans are monthly and you can leave whenever you want. SEO packages are monthly too, though we will be honest and tell you that SEO needs a few months to show meaningful results, so leaving after four weeks is unlikely to give you a fair picture. We would rather you stayed because the work is good, not because you are locked in.
Who will I actually be dealing with?
Peter, directly. Every project at MidDevon Digital is handled personally by Peter Teal from the first conversation through to launch and beyond. There are no account managers, no junior designers and no subcontractors. If you ring 01392 346700 or email, you get Peter. That is deliberate, and it is one of the main reasons clients choose a small local agency over a larger one.
Do I still need a website if I have a Google Business Profile and social media?
Yes, and the two work together rather than replacing each other. A Google Business Profile is excellent for local visibility but you do not control it and it only shows limited information. Social media reaches people but the platforms own the audience and the algorithms change constantly. Your website is the only part of your online presence you actually own and control. It is also what Google, AI tools and potential customers check when they want to know whether a business is credible.
