WEBSITE CARE AND UPDATES

Someone to look after your website, including the one someone else built.

A WordPress care plan for £50 a month, and update work on any platform, quoted before we start. No ticket queues, no call centre, no waiting a week for a reply.

Happy to take on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Duda and most other platforms · No long contracts

When this makes sense

You probably need this if...

Most people who ring us about maintenance are not in a crisis. They have just realised nobody is actually looking after the thing.

"Our builder went quiet"

The person who made your site has moved on, or takes days to reply when you need a change.

"I am nervous to touch it"

You would rather not poke around the site yourself in case something breaks.

"Updates keep slipping"

Small changes and tidy-ups keep getting put off because nobody has the time.

"I want one reliable contact"

Someone to ring when something is not right, who knows your site and picks up.

What we offer

Two things, kept deliberately separate

A fixed monthly plan that keeps a WordPress site safe and current. And update work, quoted properly, whenever you need something changed. You can have either, or both.

Fixed Monthly

Wordpress Care Plan

For WordPress and self-hosted sites that need keeping safe, current and online.

£50+VAT per month

Hosting

That is the whole list, and it is short on purpose. It covers the things that genuinely need doing every month, at a price that is not worth haggling over.

No monthly commitment. Use it when you need it, and you will always know the cost before anything starts.

If your site is on Squarespace, Wix, Shopify or Duda, you do not need a care plan. Those platforms handle hosting, security and updates themselves, and we are not going to charge you for something you are already getting. What you might want is someone to handle the changes, and that is what the second option is for.

Why update work is quoted

Because a page is not a page on every platform

Adding a page to a Duda site takes twenty minutes. Adding the same page to a bespoke WordPress theme with a custom post type might take two hours. Selling a fixed monthly bundle of "changes" means either you overpay most months, or we cut corners on the months you actually need something. Quoting each piece of work is simply more honest.

Content updates

Text changes, image swaps, new photos, updated prices, seasonal offers.

Metadata

Page titles and meta descriptions written properly, within the character limits that actually matter.

Plugins and integrations

Installed, configured and tested properly rather than switched on and hoped for.

New pages

Service pages, location pages or landing pages, built and optimised to match your site.

Schema and structured data

Markup that tells Google and AI tools what your business is and what each page covers.

Online store work

New products, categories, pricing changes and stock updates on Shopify, WooCommerce and others.

Platforms

Which platforms do we support?

Most of the common website builders, plus self-hosted WordPress. If yours is not listed, ring and ask. It is usually a yes.

WordPress

Squarespace

Wix

Duda

Shopify

Webflow

Weebly

GoDaddy

Joomla

Drupal

WooCommerce

and most others

Care plans are for WordPress and self-hosted sites. On the hosted builders, the platform already does that work, so those sites only need update support as and when you want it.

Why MidDevon Digital

A local, named person, not a ticket number

Local and family run

Based in Cullompton, working across Devon. When you ring, Peter answers. There is no support queue, no ticket reference and no waiting to be assigned to whoever is free.

Happy to take on a site we did not build

A lot of web designers will only look after websites they built themselves. We will take yours on whoever built it. You do not need to know how it was made or what state it is in, sorting that out is our job, not yours.

We build and do SEO too

Because we do the whole lot, update work gets done with an eye on how the site actually performs. Your site improves over time rather than just standing still.

Honest and straightforward

Plain answers to plain questions. If something is not worth doing, we will say so. If a job is smaller than you feared, we will quote it that way.

Being Clear

What is not included

Better said now than discovered later.

Full redesigns and large new features are quoted separately as projects rather than update work.

Out-of-hours emergencies are available, but charged on top of your plan.

Your platform subscription and domain stay in your own name. We never hold those hostage.

Third-party licence costs for premium plugins or themes are yours, though we will tell you before anything is bought.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Good to know

  • How much does WordPress maintenance cost?

Our care plan is £50+VAT a month and covers software, plugin and platform updates, security monitoring, backups and hosting. There is one plan rather than three tiers, because those are the things every WordPress site genuinely needs every month. Anything beyond that, content changes, new pages, plugin setup, is charged at £50+VAT an hour or quoted before we start.

  • Do I need a care plan if my site is on Squarespace, Wix or Duda?

No, and we would not sell you one. Those platforms handle hosting, security patching and software updates as part of your subscription, so a care plan would be charging you twice for the same thing. What people on those platforms usually want is someone to handle the changes, new pages, content updates, product listings, and we do that on a quoted or hourly basis instead.

  • Can you look after a website you did not build?

Yes, and a good share of the sites we look after are ones we did not build. You do not need to know how it was made, what plugins are on it or what state it is in. We start with a proper look at the site, tell you honestly what we find, sort anything urgent, and go from there.

  • How much does it cost to add a page to my website?

It depends on the platform and how much is involved, which is why we quote rather than publish a fixed price. A straightforward page on a hosted builder might be an hour. A properly researched and optimised service page on a custom WordPress theme could be three or four. We will tell you the cost before anything starts, and it will not change afterwards.

  • What happens if my website breaks or gets hacked?

On a care plan, backups and security monitoring mean there is a clean copy to restore from and a decent chance we spot a problem before you do. Restoring a site after a serious compromise is bigger than routine maintenance, so it is quoted separately, but you will not be starting from nothing. Out-of-hours emergency work is available and charged on top.

  • Is hosting included in the care plan?

Yes. The £50 a month covers hosting alongside updates, security monitoring and backups. Your domain stays registered in your own name , we never hold domains, and if you ever want to move elsewhere you can take everything with you.

  • What if I only need changes occasionally?

That is completely fine and quite common. There is no requirement to be on a care plan to get update work done. Plenty of clients get in touch two or three times a year when they need something changing, get a quote, and that is that. No retainer, no minimum spend.

  • Which areas of Devon do you cover?

We are based in Cullompton in Mid Devon and work with businesses across Devon, Somerset and the wider South West, Exeter, Tiverton, Plymouth, Barnstaple, Torquay and everywhere between. Maintenance and update work is done remotely, so location matters less here than it does on a build, but we are close by if you would rather talk in person.
